Bansko is situated in the southwestern part of Bulgaria, at the foot of the Pirin mountain, beneath the highest and most beautiful karst of the mountain. National Park Pirin:
Pirin mountain is a land imbued with myths and legends, a region of outstanding natural beauty. It was proclaimed as a national park in 1962. At first it was named Vihren, in 1975 it was renamed to Pirin. National park “Pirin” is included in the list of the national parks of UNESCO and in the list of cultural & natural heritage of UNESCO. You can indulge in fabulous scenic walks here and see the beautiful mountain lakes – Moratovo, Ribno and Okoto lakes. This will give you a true taste of the Pirin mountain nature and spirit for as long as your legs can endure. No backcountry experience is necessary.
